![]() It is a piece of the narrative we all knew would have to come out before the end, and yet I still did not expect Walt himself to be the one to reveal it, to look Jesse in the eye and recount the crime not as a confession, but as a vicious verbal attack. The past five episodes have been full of moments like these, but Walt revealing the circumstances of Jane’s death tops them all. I have written many times this season of moments Breaking Bad viewers have been waiting years to see, moments that come with enormous expectations and yet are somehow realized in ways that land with tremendous impact. I watched her overdose, and choke to death. For Walt, that means filling Jesse with the emotions associated with losing a loved one, and so he reveals, in the cruelest terms possible, the true terms of Jane’s untimely death. Walt needs to stick the knife in further, needs to make Jesse feel as much pain as he currently feels, because that is what we do when we project – we lash out until others are brought into the same orbit of suffering we feel we inhabit. He gives away Jesse’s position, watches as Jack puts a gun to his protégée’s head, and does not even protest when Todd requests to first torture Jesse for information. So he blames Jesse for all of this, for driving him and Hank to this awful point of no return, and tells Jack to kill the young man he once regarded – up until very, very recently, in fact – as a surrogate son. Deep down, I think Walt probably knows that it is his actions, not Jesse’s, that have led them to this awful place, but that is a truth Walt cannot currently process. Holly is the only member of Walt's immediate family to meet Mike Ehrmantraut. His first target is Jesse.(" Blood Money", " Buried", " Rabid Dog", " Ozymandias", " Granite State", " Felina") However, Moira Bryg MacDonald is the one who plays Holly for the majority of season 5.She can also be seen briefly in Walter's arms in a car wash scene. It is Elanor Anne Wenrich who plays in this heartbreaking scene.Holly's first word (and her only one throughout the series) was "Mama".Before Holly was born, Marie wanted to name her "Esmeralda".Vince Gilligan named Holly after his girlfriend.(" Felina") Appearances Breaking Bad Episodes Returning from New Hampshire, Walt says a final goodbye to Holly at Skyler's new apartment, before leaving to take on Jack Welker's Gang. Walt leaves Holly - along with a note - sitting inside of a truck at a fire station, where she is found by one of the officers and later returned to Skyler. Later on, however, Holly starts calling for her mama. Skyler then calls the police on Walt, who send out an amber alert. (" Buried")Īfter Skyler attempts to stab Walt, he takes Holly and runs off. Not long after she returns home, a fight between Marie and her mother Skyler over the custody of Holly broke out. Holly and her brother spend three months in the home of Hank and Marie Schrader while their parents work to determine the state of their marriage. She reappears for the end of the season, especially while the whole family is under witness protection at Hank and Marie while the DEA think that Hank and his family are in danger. As in the third season, we see her especially with her mother, especially when Skyler tells a locksmith to force the door of Walt's apartment (" Box Cutter"), when Skyler watches the car wash (" Thirty-Eight Snub") or during a family dinner in the Schrader Residence (" Bullet Points").įrom the moment Skyler is working on the car wash, Holly disappears for several episodes. Holly appears in every episode of the first half of Season 4. However, she appears especially in the important scene during which Walter keeps her and Mike visits him to prevent him from the half-measures (" Half Measures"). Holly is more discreet about the end of Season 3. ![]() While the family is at the hospital at Hank's bedside, Skyler hires a babysitter to keep Holly. ![]() Her aunt, Marie, also babysits her from time to time (" Más"). She can be seen at Skyler's lawyer's office (" No Más"), at her mother's workplace (" Caballo Sin Nombre") or many times by car. (" Phoenix") Season 3Īfter her birth and while her parents are separated, Holly regularly accompanies her mother. Ted Beneke, Skyler's boss, is the one who takes her to the hospital when she goes into labor and stays with her until Walt finally arrives. Walt is not present during the birth of his daughter because he is preoccupied with drug related business he blames Jesse Pinkman for making him miss the birth. (" Down") (" Breakage") They originally plan to deliver her via Caesarean section, however Skyler unexpectedly goes into labor and gives birth to Holly. While pregnant with Holly, Skyler smokes, much to Walt's displeasure when he finds out. Skyler is pregnant with her throughout the first two seasons of the show.
